very touching piece of entry she wrote..
this is my version..
*warning.. it's ultra uber wordy..
in 2001, i join guides.. haha.. cause i thought it was the most relax CCA..
everyone want to touch that rifle and flee to NCC or NPCC..
i thought it was boring cause during my CCA open house,
all the other uniform group were marching except guides..
i guess that how alot of us were con into guides/scouts...
i was quite outstanding back than.. being the 1st to move on from the sec1 squad to the sec2..
and my CL told me i had the potential to be a CL..
lol.. that drive me to work hard.. and hopefully be the CL of my batch..
In 2002, i was choosen to be one of the guide to be in the GOH contingent..
training was extremely tough.. army style training..
training only end at 7pm? haha.. got bonding with the scouts..
after the parade, i was invited to join the shadow combined camp..
zhong hua, mayflower and braddell-westlake scouts & bwl guides..
i went to the camp cause in 3D2N, u can complete 7 proficiency badges.. (WOW!)
cooking, footdrill, total defence silver, knot, observer.. and i other..
it look like a compass with N, S, E, W.. lol.. and my guides silver award..
i completed the camp.. and got myself a merit award.. i was the only sec2 who got it..
the scouts leader were impress i guess... lOl..
when i was sec 3,i was promoted to a PS, patrol second..
only 3 of us were invited to join ventures..
me, wenya and xue lian.. we went for afew activities..
and they are really interesting.. much more den wad we learn in guides..
i learn alot from scouts.. and at that time, i really both my cca....
i teach guides what i learn from venture, like building flag pole..
knots and marching.. weekly meetings are on saturadays.. and i love sats..
8-12 will be for guides... 1-4pm will be for ventures..
and on some days, campfires! lol.. saturday is the day i`m looking forward everyday..
cause i was dating a zh shadow scout leader at that time, he knws what's behind the scene..
and did not allow me to go to scouts activities.. and this.. i seldom go to scout events..
by then, my whole guides unit know about me and wenya joining ventures..
and we all know sec3 year end is the promotion..i was only promoted to PL..
my juniors thought either me or wenya will get a CL position..
and we were disappointed.. we suspect cause they scared we'll convert guides to scouts..haha..
so sec4 i still did my best.. even it's not my turn to do the flagpole..
i still went down every week to do up the flag pole.. PGA was still on my mind..
by then i only left with 3 clause to take PGA..
our scouts leader said they will help us with it cause it's much more simple den PSA..
wenya and me went up to our guider..ask her if she can send us for PGA..
for the pride of our sch and we believe it will help us get a puan noor aisha award..
"i have no time to send u all~!" this is wad she said..
and at the same time, my EX bf did not allow me to go for scouts..
and threaten me to quit scouts.. of course i`m sad la..
after i leave bwl, i went back to serve as a ex guide..
to help them with everything i could.. i couldn't join back scouts..
cause they dun allow ppl to quit and join back..
i ask my guider if she need a YA cause when ever we want to go for CFs..
CL will bring us.. not guider and we wun have points for PNA award..
"u wan to go, u will be attached to HQ.. i dun need a YA"
after hearing this, i got no mood to go back to help out..
no point helping and they dun appreciate..
so i decided to wait for shadow to close down..
and join either 1 of the group..
for ur infor.. i got 4 guides senior who are scouts..
mei fen, braddell guides... ex shadow venture
mei yu, westlake guides... ex shadow rover
serene zhao, serangoon guides, shadow leader
jean tan, braddell-westlake guides(CL).. current serangoon eagles leader...
and ya.. this is alr my 3rd yr in rovering...
and i`m still enjoying it.. i must admit i did not do much for scouts..
but i love scouts... i have alot to learn from them..
why am i still going for to scouts?
for 1 simple reason.. scouts/guides is my passion..
it's international.. and more exciting den other uniform grp..
there's a bond there tat i can't give up..
and most important! stay young~! lol...
